@everyone π All endpoints are coming back online!
After a long day (and way too many coffees and Red Bulls π ), we've successfully recovered the most critical endpoints.
Steam's recent changes caused millions of HTTP 500 errors and millions of failed requests starting around 1:00 AM yesterday. We spent the last 15 hours investigating, adapting, testing, and deploying a stable fix.
β Inventory API is working again.
β Profile API is working again.
π We're continuing to monitor and test the remaining endpoints to make sure there are no other issues caused by Steam's changes.
The work isn't over yet, but the two most important endpoints are now stable again.
Thanks to everyone for your patience while we worked through the chaos. π

Steam is one of the most popular online gaming platforms, with millions of active users worldwide. Steam's inventory system is a key component of the platform, allowing users to collect and trade in-game items. The Steam Inventory API is an essential tool for developers who want to integrate Steam's inventory system into their own applications. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at what the Steam Inventory API is, how it works, and the benefits it can offer for developers.
What is the Steam Inventory API?
The Steam Inventory API is a web-based API that provides access to Steam's inventory system. The API allows developers to retrieve and manipulate the inventory data of individual Steam users. This includes the items in a user's inventory, their trade history, and their trade offers.
How does the Steam Inventory API work?
To use the Steam Inventory API, developers need to create a Steam Web API key. This key is used to authenticate requests to the API and ensure that only authorized users can access inventory data. Once a key has been obtained, developers can use HTTP requests to interact with the API.
The Steam Inventory API provides several endpoints for accessing inventory data. These include endpoints for retrieving a user's inventory, retrieving a user's trade history, and creating and managing trade offers. The API also supports real-time updates, allowing developers to receive notifications when inventory data changes.
What are the benefits of using the Steam Inventory API?
There are several benefits to using the Steam Inventory API for developers. One of the biggest advantages is the ability to integrate Steam's inventory system into their own applications. This can be useful for developers who want to create their own trading websites or other applications that rely on Steam's inventory system.
Another benefit of the Steam Inventory API is the ability to automate trade offers. Developers can use the API to create and manage trade offers on behalf of users, making it easier for them to trade items without needing to be online at the same time.
Finally, the Steam Inventory API offers real-time updates, which can be useful for developers who need to keep track of changes to inventory data. This can help to ensure that applications are always up-to-date and that users have access to the latest inventory information.
Conclusion
The Steam Inventory API is a powerful tool for developers who want to integrate Steam's inventory system into their own applications. With the ability to retrieve and manipulate inventory data, automate trade offers, and receive real-time updates, the Steam Inventory API offers a range of benefits for developers. Whether you're building a trading website or a gaming application, the Steam Inventory API can help to streamline your development process and provide a better user experience.
